Opposition won’t stop demanding accountability, Rahul Gandhi warns Centre

New Delhi, August 9: The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, said that a student in Prayagraj told him that he had no other option left. Despite years of preparation, selling family land, and his parents’ debt, failing to find employment is not the student’s defeat, but the defeat of a system that fails to properly value the hard work of young people.

Rahul Gandhi said on the social media platform X on Sunday that a student in Prayagraj told him that he had prepared for years, sold his family’s land, and his parents’ debt, yet he had nothing in hand. This defeat is not the student’s defeat, but the defeat of a system that refused to recognize his hard work.

He accused the central government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of maintaining silence on the students’ issues. Rahul Gandhi said that it has been 13 days since the action taken against the students, but there has been no statement from the Home Minister yet. Instead of apologizing, apologies are being distributed.

Rahul Gandhi said the government should not assume the opposition will stop demanding accountability. Students were attacked on the streets of the capital with batons and pellets, but the Home Minister did not comment. He said the government must take responsibility for the incident.
