PM Modi appeals for caution as heatwave intensifies across the nation

New Delhi, May 27: Amid the intense heat and heatwave conditions prevailing in various parts of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions. He urged people to drink adequate water, carry water with them when going out, and provide water to those in need.

Sharing several posts on the social media platform on Wednesday, the Prime Minister stated that extreme heat poses challenges for everyone. He advised people not to ignore symptoms of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, nausea, and extreme fatigue. He said that if anyone experiences weakness, headache, or unwell, they should immediately be taken to a cool, shady place and provided with water and ORS.

The Prime Minister stated that children, the elderly, and those working outdoors are most affected by extreme heat. He warned that ignoring these symptoms could lead to a serious condition, leading to heatstroke.

Modi urged people to take special care of their parents, grandparents, and other elderly family members, calling them regularly to check on their well-being and advising them to drink plenty of water, avoid going out in the scorching midday sun, and get adequate rest.

The Prime Minister also called for sensitivity towards birds and animals during the scorching heat. He said that placing small pots filled with water outside homes, balconies, terraces, shops, and offices can prove life-saving for thirsty birds and animals.

The Prime Minister wrote, “Temperatures are continuously rising in different parts of the country, and with them, the many difficulties caused by the heat in daily life are also increasing. I urge all countrymen to take as much precaution as possible. Please keep yourself hydrated and carry water with you when leaving the house. In such weather, your sensitivity also becomes a great support. If possible, please offer a glass of water to a thirsty person. I would also like to commend those who keep water in pots outside their homes and shops so that anyone can drink from them.”

Another post read, “Whenever possible, call your parents, grandparents, and other loved ones to check on their well-being. Advise them to drink plenty of water, avoid going out in the hot midday sun, and get as much rest as possible.”

The Prime Minister wrote, “In this scorching heat, we must not forget the animals and birds around us. Even a small pot of water placed outside your home, balcony, terrace, shop, or office can be a lifesaver for a thirsty bird. Let us take care of each other with utmost sensitivity and compassion during these difficult times.”
