Shiv Sena UBT faces fresh jolt as six MPs cross over to Shinde faction

Mumbai, June 17: Six rebel MPs of Shiv Sena UBT left the party on Wednesday and formed a separate group. All these rebel MPs are going to join Shinde group of Shiv Sena on June 19. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s office has given recognition to all these six rebel MPs as a separate group.

National spokesperson of Shinde group Saina NC said on Wednesday that her party’s operation ‘Pragati’ has been successful. Very soon all these six MPs will join her party.

Nine MPs of Shiv Sena UBT had won the Lok Sabha elections held in the year 2024. Of these, Omraje Nimbalkar from Dharashiv, Sanjay Jadhav from Parbhani, Sanjay Dina Patil from Mumbai North-East, Nagesh Patil Ashtikar from Hingoli, Bhausaheb Wakchaure from Shirdi, and Sanjay Deshmukh from Yavatmal-Washim rebelled against the party today and formed a separate faction. However, Anil Desai, Arvind Sawant, and Rajabhau Vaze of the Shiv Sena UBT remain with the Shiv Sena UBT.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s legal team has arrived in Delhi and is working to complete the constitutional formalities related to the induction of these MPs into the Shinde faction. Shinde has instructed his team to ensure that all procedures are followed in accordance with the rules to avoid legal disputes or technical problems amid potential political developments.

Shiv Sena UBT spokesperson Sanjay Raut has accused these MPs of being pressured to break the alliance. Meanwhile, Shinde faction MP Naresh Mhaske said that all the MPs were unhappy with the party leadership, so they had rebelled against the party and had decided to join his party.

Naresh Mhaske said that Sanjay Raut should pay attention to the problems of his MPs.

Shiv Sena UBT MPs Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, and Sanjay Raut had written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, demanding that these six MPs not be recognized as a separate faction. However, the Lok Sabha Speaker has recognized the separate faction of all six MPs. This has cleared the way for all six MPs to join the Shiv Sena Shinde faction.
