Gurugram, July 10: The Gurugram police took major action against organized crime and foiled a plot to extort and murder. In an encounter in the Sushant Lok Phase-2 area, police killed four shooters and arrested one in critical condition. Three policemen were also injured in the encounter.

The Gurugram Assistant Police Commissioner Naveen Sharma shared the information on Friday.

The Assistant Police Commissioner Naveen Sharma said on Friday that due to intelligence inputs received over the past few days and threats received by some of the victim families, crime teams had been keeping a watch on possible locations. Late on the night of July 9, 2026, information was received that five shooters of a gangster based abroad were firing at a businessman’s house, just before the crime teams from Sectors 40, 39, and 17 cordoned off the area.

According to the incident, a black Scorpio, its number plate covered with black tape, arrived at businessman Vishal Berry’s house. Three armed criminals alighted from the vehicle and began firing indiscriminately at the house and surrounding buildings. One of the accused was also recording the entire incident on his mobile phone. Police teams, already deployed, surrounded the area and warned the accused to surrender. However, the criminals opened fire indiscriminately, intending to kill the police. Three policemen, Constable Manjeet Singh, Constable Shamsher Singh, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar, were injured.

The ACP told that the police fired first in the air and then issued a second warning. A controlled retaliatory fire was then launched for self-defense and public safety. All five shooters were injured in the retaliatory fire. All five were immediately taken to the hospital. Four accused died during treatment. One, Shivam, a resident of Mewat district, is undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Three accused, one from Rohtak and one from Fatehabad, were killed in this encounter, and one was seriously injured. The deceased criminals were identified as Deepa, a resident of Fatehabad district, Aryan, a resident of Rohtak district, Nitin, and Ankit, a resident of Rohtak district.

According to the ACP, the preliminary investigation revealed that Nitin had two cases registered against him in Rohtak for attempt to murder and possession of illegal weapons. Deepa, also known as Sandeep, has 14 cases registered against him under the Arms Act, the NDPS Act, and other serious crimes. The records of other accused are also being investigated. Police recovered five modern pistols, over 50 empty shells, a large number of live cartridges, and a Scorpio car from the scene of the incident. Immediately after the incident, a scene-of-crime team and a ballistics expert were called in, and scientific evidence was collected in the presence of an executive magistrate.
