Thunderstorm & rain alert in 28 UP districts; winds may reach 60 kmph

Lucknow, Aug 12: The UP Meteorological Department has issued an alert of thunderstorm, lightning, and rain in the next 24 hours across 28 districts including Prayagraj, while CSA meteorologist Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey has urged farmers and the public to remain cautious in view of the weather forecast.

Dr SN Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur (CSA), said that according to the alert issued by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain with strong thunderstorm in Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Raebareli and Amethi of the state. During this period, winds are likely to blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and the wind speed is likely to reach about 60 kilometers per hour with gusts. Thunderstorms and light to moderate rain in 20 districts

He said that apart from eight districts in Uttar Pradesh, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and light to moderate rain with strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in 20 districts. The districts of the state include Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Pratapgarh, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Banda, Kaushambi, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Jalaun, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kanpur Nagar, Jhansi, Etawah, Agra, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao and Auraiya.

In this way, in the immediate warning, a total of 20 districts have been asked to remain alert in terms of light to moderate rain, lightning and strong winds. Out of these, eight districts of the first group have more active weather warning.

Meteorologists say the weather could change rapidly locally

According to Dr Pandey due to the active monsoon and sufficient moisture in the atmosphere, thunderstorms are developing locally in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. Consequently, weather changes are possible in a short period of time.

Dr Pandey stated that during thunderstorms, people should avoid open spaces, trees, and power poles, and special caution should be exercised during lightning. Due to increased humidity, heavy showers may also occur in some areas.

According to meteorologists, farmers should be cautious about standing crops and harvested produce in the event of rain and strong winds. It would be best to avoid working in the fields and stay in a safe place during lightning.
