
UIDAI launches six‑month window for free home Aadhaar update
New Delhi, July 3: Residents of remote areas will now be able to easily update their Aadhaar card, including email, mobile number, address, and other details, from the comfort of their homes. This feature, which began on July 1, will remain free for the next six months. Over 2.5 million people updated their emails in the first two days.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched this initiative on July 1. This has made it easier than ever for residents to update their Aadhaar information.
According to the Ministry, the new Aadhaar app, designed to make life easier, is enabling people to easily avail of a number of services, including mobile number updates and address updates, from their smartphones. So far, over 4 million people have updated their mobile numbers using the new Aadhaar app. Nearly 1 million people have also updated their addresses using this app.
This initiative underlines UIDAI’s commitment to providing people-friendly digital services towards a developed India under Digital India.
