UP criminal held in Maharashtra for murder of girlfriend’s husband
Lucknow, August 29: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has succeeded in arresting a wanted criminal, carrying a reward of ₹ 50,000, from Maharashtra in a murder case registered at the Achalganj police station in Unnao district.
Under the leadership of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Pramesh Kumar Shukla, a team including sub-inspectors Saurabh Mishra and Sunil Kumar Tiwari arrested Rafiq Qureshi alias Lalli, a wanted criminal from Unnao carrying a ₹50,000 reward, near the Radisson Hotel in Pune’s Kharadi police station area following a swift operation based on intelligence inputs.
Arrested accused Rafiq Qureshi alias Lalli revealed during interrogation that he had an illicit relationship with the wife of Imran alias Kale, a resident of Akhlak Nagar, Unnao. This led to daily disputes between the couple. At the woman’s insistence, I, along with my friend Farman alias Chunna, hatched a plan to kill Imran alias Kale. On July 6, 2025, Farman and I plied Imran with alcohol. We then took him to a secluded area and slit his throat with a sharp weapon, killing him. After my name appeared in the police case, I returned to Pune and began working as a pickup loader driver.
Arrested accused Rafiq Qureshi alias Lalli was produced before the Pune court, obtained transit remand, and brought from Pune to the case registered at Achalganj police station in Unnao. Further legal proceedings are being conducted by the local police.
