Varanasi, 11 November: Hearing of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati’s application filed regarding worshipping of the Shivling found in the Gyanvapi complex was adjourned till on November 18, as Civil Judge Senior Division Kumudalata Tripathi was on leave.

It has been said that in the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri case, on the orders of the Civil Judge (Senior Division), the Shivling found in the proceedings of the Court Commission should have been duly performed by the district administration for raga-bhog, worship and aarti, but till now the administration has not done so.

Swami Avimukteshwarananda says that legally the condition of the deity is like that of a living child to whom not giving food and water etc. is a violation of the fundamental right to personal liberty under Article 21 of the Constitution. Senior advocates Arun Kumar Tripathi, Ramesh Upadhyay Chandrashekhar Seth etc. appeared in the court on behalf of Swami Avimukteshwaranand.
