Monsoon favorable in UP by end of June amid continued heat, predicts weather experts
Lucknow, June 25: The scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh shows no signs of abating. The heatwave across the state has created conditions where the heat of the sun and hot winds are forcing people to stay indoors during the day. The weather in Lucknow remained very hot and dry today. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature at night could remain around 31 degrees Celsius.
Atul Kumar Singh, a scientist at the India Meteorological Department’s Regional Meteorological Center in Lucknow, told the media on Thursday that as a result of sporadic weather activity in the state, Banda, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Kheri, Lakhimpur, Ballia, and Bahraich in eastern Uttar Pradesh were hit by a heat wave (loo) on Thursday. In the absence of significant weather activity in the state, heat wave conditions are likely to persist in some parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh until June 27, with temperatures expected to rise slightly. Following this, a new round of rainfall is expected to begin in the state from June 28 and gradually increase. Conditions are favorable for the southwest monsoon to reach the state within the next two to three days and advance into Uttar Pradesh during the following two to three days. Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 40 degrees Celsius in Lucknow, Kanpur, and surrounding areas on Thursday.
He added that dust storms and severe thunderstorms are expected in western Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. According to the forecast, the weather in eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to remain largely dry from June 25 to 27, with isolated rain or showers possible on June 28 and 29.
Weather experts say that the monsoon may take some time to arrive in the state. Until then, people in eastern Uttar Pradesh are unlikely to see any relief from the heat and scorching sun.
