
75-year-old man arrested for raping six-year-old girl in UP
Hamirpur, July 1: A shocking case of rape of a six‑year‑old girl surfaced in Rath town of Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh, where police registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim’s mother, arrested the accused elderly man, and sent him to jail.
Police Inspector Anoop Singh said on Wednesday that a woman from Delhi stated in her complaint to the police that she had come to her brother’s house in a neighborhood of Rath town. It is alleged that her six-year-old daughter had gone to a nearby shop to buy crisps. Meanwhile, a 75-year-old Chand Khan, a resident of Ramnagar Malhowa Road Canal Bypass, lured her away and raped her. When the girl returned home some time later, her condition raised fears of something untoward happening.
Upon learning of the incident, the family went to the police station and filed a complaint against the accused, demanding action.
The police officer said that on the complaint of the victim’s mother, a case has been registered under the POCSO Act including rape and the accused has been sent to jail.
