Monsoon brings relief: UP temperatures dip to 33°C

Lucknow, July 2: Monsoon showers and dense cloud cover brought relief across Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, steadily lowering temperatures to around 33°C, as the Meteorological Department issued a statewide alert for thunderstorms and heavy rain in all 75 districts.

According to Atul Kumar Singh, meteorologist at the Lucknow Meteorological Department , heavy rain has occurred in many areas in the last 24 hours due to the monsoon’s spread across the state, and this trend is expected to continue for the next few days. On Thursday, the capital Lucknow will experience partly cloudy skies with the possibility of thunderstorms and rain. The maximum temperature here will be around 35 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 25 degree Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has predicted gusty winds with thunder and lightning in most of the districts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. On Thursday, winds will blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km along with heavy rain in most parts of the state.

Heavy rain alert in all 75 districts of the state

According to the Met officials, the series of monsoon rains will start in the entire Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 to 48 hours. An alert for moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning has also been issued in all 75 districts of the state. These include most of the districts of the state including Ghaziabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, Baghpat, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Rampur, Sambhal, Moradabad, Amroha, Bijnor, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Badaun, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Agra, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Kannauj, Etawah, Kanpur, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Rae Bareli.

Highest rainfall in Bahraich district

According to the Meteorological Department, Bahraich district received the highest rainfall of 113 mm on Wednesday. Along with this, 95 mm of rain was recorded in Bijnor and 93 mm in Lalitpur. This year the monsoon has arrived in Uttar Pradesh with a delay of about 10 days. The monsoon entered Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday via Sonbhadra and Maharajganj.

Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh said that after the arrival of monsoon, there will be a possibility of continuous rain for the time being. This has caused the temperature to drop by 8 to 10 degrees.
