
CM Yogi hails Acharya Chanakya as symbol of prosperity
Varanasi, July 8: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that education is the foundation of society and nothing is possible without it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has told the countrymen that we must fulfill the vision of a developed India.
He told teachers that the government does not want anything from you in exchange for cashless healthcare, but only asks that every teacher give top priority to children’s education, school cleanliness, and their all-round development. Paving the right path for students is both a teacher’s duty and a national responsibility.
The Chief Minister was addressing a program held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Hastkala Sankul, Bada Lalpur, on Wednesday, the second day of his visit to Varanasi. On this occasion, he launched a cashless healthcare facility for teachers and Shiksha Mitras of the Basic and Secondary Education Department. He also transferred an amount of ₹1,320 crore to the bank accounts of the parents of approximately 11 million students in the state through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
Chief Minister stated that the state government will spend approximately ₹450 crore annually on cashless treatment for teachers, and the entire amount will be borne by the state government. He stated that the government is concerned about the health of teachers so that they can shape the future of the new generation with complete devotion and dedication. Because with a teacher like Acharya Chanakya, the country can never be poor; even foreign powers cannot look askance at it. Many of Uttar Pradesh’s schemes are role models in the country. Today, schools are being developed under Project Alankar. The state’s teachers are showcasing their talents across the country.
Referring to Arunachal Pradesh, he said the state’s MP told him that a large number of teachers in the state are from Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh teachers have made significant contributions in other states, including Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister said that previously, Secondary Education Board examinations used to last three months, but now, with the cooperation of teachers, exams are being completed in just 15 days, and results are being declared in a timely manner.
He said that the double-engine government has made the examination system transparent, simple, and free of cheating in the last nine years. As a result of the reforms in the education sector, students and youth of the state no longer face identity challenges. With the improvement in education, the state’s development has also accelerated. Congratulating teachers and their families on the launch of the scheme, the Chief Minister said that approximately 1.2 million teachers will benefit from this health protection scheme.
He said that permanent teachers and employees will receive group term insurance of ₹10 lakh, personal accident cover of ₹1 crore, permanent disability insurance cover of ₹1 crore, and air accident insurance cover of up to ₹1.6 crore.
Chief Minister also informed that contract employees earning more than ₹10,000 will also receive personal accident insurance of ₹30 lakh to ₹80 lakh, while employees earning less than ₹10,000 will receive accident insurance of ₹2 lakh.
He said that if any untoward incident happens to a teacher or employee, financial assistance will be provided for their children’s education and daughters’ marriage. Today, we are guaranteeing social security to every teacher, Shiksha Mitra, and instructor. Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to implement this system.
During the event, in the Chief Minister’s presence, an MoU was signed with the State Bank of India for the social security of approximately 1 million teachers and contract employees. Twelve principals of nationally selected clean and green schools were also honored.
The Chief Minister informed that every student of the Basic Education Council is receiving a financial assistance of Rs. 1,200 for uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters, bags, and other essential items directly into their parents’ accounts. He stated that parents and teachers share the responsibility to ensure that every child attends school regularly and receives a quality education under the “Nipun Bharat” campaign. He also urged parents to inculcate in their children the importance of cleanliness, discipline, and good school habits. The Chief Minister emphasized that everyone should contribute to improving their schools with a sense of gratitude.
Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh, Minister of State for Secondary Education (Independent Charge) Gulab Devi, Cabinet Minister Anil Rajbhar, and numerous public representatives and officials were present at the event.
