New Delhi, 16 December: The Ministry of External Affairs has reacted strongly to Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s “indecent” remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying it is the height of the lowliness of the neighboring country. The ministry said that troubled by the pressure of the international community, Pakistan is venting its anger, it is no longer able to use terrorists and proxy groups.
The Ministry of External Affairs reminded Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation Campaign. In this battle, the Indian Army, along with the Mukti Bahini, ended the Pakistani rule on this day, December 16.
Reacting to Bilawal’s remarks in New York on Friday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that the 1971 Bangladesh war was a result of the genocide of Bengalis and Hindus in the then East Pakistan. He said that unfortunately, Pakistan’s old treatment of minorities has not changed. Pakistan has no right to make any comment against India which is considered the mother of democracy, he added.
The workers of Bharatiya Janata Party have also protested outside the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi on Friday against Bilawal Bhutto’s statement. In a press conference on Thursday in the United Nations Council, Bhutto made derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him the ‘Butcher of Gujarat’.
Reacting to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s statement, Bilawal had said, ?It is a fact that Osama bin Laden is dead but the butcher of Gujarat is alive and he is the Prime Minister of India. Modi’s entry was banned in the US itself and he got rid of it after becoming the prime minister.”
Bagchi said that in recent times, the anti-terrorist campaign is gaining central place in the world agenda. Pakistan’s clear role in providing shelter and economic resources to terrorists is under the strict scrutiny of the international community. He said that it is clear from Bilawal Bhutto’s indecent language outburst that the neighbouring country is no longer able to use terrorists and such groups for its own benefit.
Referring to the terrorist incidents in Mumbai, Pulwama, Pathankot, New York and London etc., the spokesperson said that these have become witnesses of Pakistan sponsored terrorism. He said that Pakistan’s ‘special terrorist John’ is exporting terrorism originating in Pakistan all over the world, it is necessary to stop such terrorism.
The Ministry of External Affairs further said that Pakistan is the country that has glorified Osama bin Laden as a martyr. It is also giving shelter to terrorists like Lakhvi, Hafiz Saeed, Masood Azhar, Sajid Mir and Dawood Ibrahim, the statement continued, of the UN-designated terrorists and their groups, 126 terrorists and 27 groups are linked to Pakistan.
The spokesperson also referred to the discussion held on Thursday in the UN Security Council on the issue of terrorism and advised Bilawal that he should look into the statement of Anjali Kulthe, a hospital nurse who was a victim of the Mumbai terrorist attack. Anjali had saved the lives of 20 pregnant women by ignoring the bullets of Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab, the spokesperson said that it is obvious that Bilawal is trying to cover up these misdeeds of Pakistan.
The Ministry of External Affairs advised Bilawal to focus his frustration against the growing terrorist ringleaders in the country. Advising Pakistan to shun the path of terrorism, Bagchi said that unless the neighbouring country changes its mindset, it will remain isolated in the world.
