
27-year-old arrested for placing stone on Shatabdi track in Mirzapur
Mirzapur, July 10: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested and sent to jail a youth accused of placing a stone on the railway track in front of the Shatabdi Express on the Chunar-Chhapra section in the Rajgarh police station area. The incident occurred on the night of July 6. The stone hit the engine, luckily, no major accident occurred.
According to the RPF, a stone placed on the railway track near Sonvarsha village on July 6 at around 12:30 am. Hearing the sound of the collision, the loco pilot stopped the train and inspected the track. Subsequently, the Lusa station master was informed, who in turn informed the RPF station, Churk.
During the investigation, the RPF arrested 27-year-old Vivek Kumar alias Shiva, a resident of Semra Barho village. During interrogation, it was revealed that the youth was in a relationship with a young woman. After the girl’s family rejected his marriage proposal and drove him out of the house, he became angry and first sat on the railway track. After being removed by railway employees, he placed a large stone on the track near Sonvarsha village.
Inspector-in-charge of the Churk Ghurma RPF station, Neeraj Ojha, stated that a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections and, after legal proceedings, he was presented in court and sent to jail. He added that tampering with the railway track is a serious crime, and strict action will be taken in such cases.
