Lucknow, June 3: By December 2023, the Yogi government of India’s Uttar Pradesh state intends to create ‘gharaunis,’ or certifications of people’s land or patrimonial residences, for more than 90,000 villages.
The Survey of India will provide an error-free map by July 31, with on-the-spot testing completed by August 31. UP has already finished surveying 90,894 villages and preparing 57 lakh gharaunis, 55.15 lakh of which have been distributed.
Uttar Pradesh’s Yogi government has set a goal of preparing ‘gharaunis’ for more than 90,000 villages by December of this year. According to a news release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office on Saturday, the objective is to get an error-free map from the Survey of India by July 31; similarly, on-the-spot testing must be completed by August 31.
A ‘Gharauni’ is a certificate that contains information on a person’s land or patrimonial residence. It produced and provided to the Chief Secretary an enlarged description of its action plan. In addition, according to an official statement issued by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, “the Yogi government has completed surveying 90,894 villages so far.
Nonetheless, the Survey of India map indicates 73,000 settlements. There are around 57 lakh Gharaunis ready. It is a great accomplishment because, as of April 24, 2023, over 55.15 lakh ‘Gharaunis’ have been distributed.”
According to the statement, Bundelkhand districts are at the top of the list of the top ten districts under the ‘Svamitva Yojna,’ a Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj that aims to guarantee property rights to rural communities.
The plan facilitates the acquisition of loans and other benefits for rural residents by utilising their dwellings as financial assets.
Bundelkhand’s Lalitpur (99.944 pc), Jalaun (99.657 %), and Jhansi (99.056 pc) districts are in the top three, with Mahoba (98.701 pc) ranking fifth. Moradabad (99.037 percent) is ranked fourth. Baghpat (98.375 percentile), Sambhal (97.474 percentile), Hamirpur (97.328 percentile), Shamli (97.044 percentile), and Kasganj (97.008 percentile) were rated sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.
“On April 24, PM Modi digitally distributed 20,98,926 ‘gharaunis’ of Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day,” the official statement said. These ‘gharaunis’ were given in 37,833 villages across the state as part of the Pradhan Mantri Svamitva Yojana.”
Yogi Aditynath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, lauded the plan, calling it a step towards making the dream of ‘Rashtroyada from Gramodaya’ a reality.
