IMD warns of unstable conditions—Rain, thunder, and strong winds in UP
Prayagraj, 22 September: The Indian Meteorological Department Science Lucknow Centre has predicted the possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning in many districts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. During this period, strong wind will blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
The Met officials say that amidst the departure of monsoon, there are signs of change in the weather of Uttar Pradesh once again. Strong wind blowing with moderate rain likely to occur at some places in Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Amethi, Sultanpur and Ayodhya.
According to the meteorological department, in addition to Prayagraj, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is also expected in Sant Ravidas Nagar, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Banda, Kaushambi, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Jalaun, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kanpur Nagar, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Deoria, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kanpur Dehat, and Barabanki, as well as surrounding areas.
Dr S.N. Sunil Pandey, a meteorologist at Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CSA), Kanpur, stated that due to atmospheric moisture and local weather conditions before the monsoon’s departure, sudden thunderstorms and rain may occur in some parts of the state. Further changes in weather patterns are expected over the next few days. Farmers are advised to monitor the weather while working in the open fields and to move to a safe place in case of lightning.
According to the latest forecast of the India Meteorological Department, there is no mention of any specific warning in Uttar Pradesh on September 22 and 23, but from September 24, there is a possibility of increased thunderstorm and strong wind activities in eastern Uttar Pradesh and heavy rain in many areas between September 25 and 28. The meteorologist has advised people to stay away from trees, electric poles and open spaces during lightning.
