
Varanasi’s Dal Mandi demolition drive for expansion of 2nd major KV temple corridor continues
Varanasi, May 10: Construction of the second major corridor for Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple is progressing in Dal Mandi, where the demolition of 43 houses began simultaneously on Sunday, with the 29th house already razed using a JCB and 14 more awaiting demolition.
The ADM City Alok Verma stated that the Dal Mandi widening operation is ongoing on government instructions. This two-phase operation continues to progress towards its goal, with the demolition of identified houses continuing on the second day. Mosques are also to be demolished in this sequence, for which the cooperation of the Varanasi Commissionerate Police has been sought.
Alok Verma added that mosques will be demolished only in the presence of a large number of police personnel. There has been no opposition to the Dal Mandi widening project so far. The Commissionerate Police will take action if any opposition erupts in the Dal Mandi area.
