Five people, including four Uttar Pradesh police personnel, died on the spot in the accident. All the policemen were posted in Orai, the headquarters of Jalaun district in Uttar Pradesh.

As per the eyewitnesses, on Tuesday morning near the Dhulawat toll plaza under Taoru Sadar police station limits, a black Scorpio belonging to Uttar Pradesh policemen met with a devastating accident around 10:30 a.m. when the driver, attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed, lost control and collided with it, leaving the SUV mangled and trapping all five occupants inside; police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and struggled to extricate the victims from the wreckage.
