Asian Games: Modi applauds Indian women cricketers for golden triumph
New Delhi, September 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Asian Games gold medal-winning Indian women’s cricket team.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on micro- blogging site X ( formerly known as Twitter), “A fantastic victory for Indian cricket! Many congratulations to our women’s cricket team on winning the gold medal at the Asian Games. The team’s performance in the Games was tremendous, demonstrating confidence, skill, and excellent teamwork. With this victory, India has also won its first gold medal in these Games. The team has brought honor to the country and will inspire countless young cricketers across the country.”
It is noteworthy that the brilliant batting of Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma, followed by the excellent bowling of the Indian spinners, India won the gold medal for the second consecutive time by defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the women’s cricket final of the Asian Games on Tuesday. This is India’s first gold medal at the current Asian Games. India now has seven medals, including one gold, four silver, and two bronze.
