
Rain-storm alert issued in Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur in UP
Lucknow, May 13: Uttar Pradesh’s weather took another sharp turn as heavy rain and strong storms struck Kanpur and nearby districts, while the Meteorological Department issued a three-hour alert for severe conditions in Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, and surrounding Terai areas after two days of scorching heat and rising mercury.
Senior meteorologist of Lucknow Meteorological Department, Atul Kumar Singh said that the possibility of formation of western disturbance was predicted two days ago. Due to this change in weather, there is a possibility of moderate thunderstorms with lightning, strong winds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour and strong gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour in the above mentioned districts today. Along with this, moderate rain with hailstorm has also been predicted at many places.
The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to be alert and stay in safe places during bad weather. The Meteorological Department, Lucknow has issued this warning at 12:42 pm. Its validity will remain till 3:42 pm today.
At the same time, the Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of thunder, lightning, sudden strong wind-storm (50-60 kmph gust with gusts up to 80 kmph) and hailstorm in the capital Lucknow and the surrounding Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Auraiya, Barabanki, Bahraich districts and surrounding areas. At the same time, there is a possibility of thunder, lightning, sudden strong wind with speed of 30-40 kmph and light rain in Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Hardoi, Gonda, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Shravasti districts and surrounding areas.
