Disha Salian death case: CBI begins probe, FIR filed against politicians, police officials, actor Dino Morea
Mumbai, September 14: Following the Bombay High Court’s directive, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the death case of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The FIR names more than 33 people, including Shiv Sena (UBT) president and former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, former minister Aditya Thackeray, former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, former police officer Sachin Vaze, and actor Dino Morea. The CBI has begun investigating the case.
According to the CBI, the FIR is investigating serious charges including murder, gang rape, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence, and spreading false information to allegedly protect the accused. However, the mere mention of a person’s name in the FIR does not in itself prove a crime against them. Further legal action will be decided only after the allegations are investigated.
The scope of the investigation is limited to the circumstances surrounding Disha Salian’s death, as well as aspects related to alleged suppression and influence in the investigation. The CBI will also investigate whether any government employee or police officer allegedly misused government resources, police machinery, documents, or official records. Allegations of tampering with records, destroying or suppressing documents, and influencing the investigation will also be investigated. The
CBI investigation is said to include the roles of Aditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Aditya Thackeray’s bodyguards, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Sachin Vaze, Parambir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Thakur, Uddhav Thackeray, the then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, and others. Furthermore, the roles of Ashok Devdhe, Jagdev Kalapad, Shailendra Nagarkar, Chimaji Adhav, and Arjun Rajne, as well as officers associated with the Malvani police station, are also being investigated.
The CBI FIR also names doctors and staff involved in the alleged delay in Disha Salian’s post-mortem, including Dr Sanjay Jadhav and officials from the Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory. Assistant Chemical Analyst N.P. Bhale is also named.
It is noteworthy that Disha Salian died after falling from a building in Malad. Subsequently, the Malavani police investigated the case and filed a closure report in court. Disha Salian’s father later filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking a CBI investigation.
Following the High Court’s direction, the CBI has now registered an FIR and initiated the investigation. Under the legal process, merely being named in an FIR does not presume a person to be guilty. Disha Salian’s father stated after the FIR was filed that he now has hope of justice
