Delhi police declares school bomb threat emails ‘fake’, hunt on for culprit
New Delhi, September 15: The Delhi police on Tuesday termed the emails threatening to bomb three schools, including the Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, as completely fake. The police’s cyber cell is working to trace the sender of the emails.
According to the police, three schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails, following which students were evacuated from the school premises and security checks were conducted. These threats were later proven false as a search of the premises revealed nothing suspicious. The schools that received the threats were the British School in Chanakyapuri, the Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, and the Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate.
According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), it received a call from the Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan at 11:30 am, following which a fire engine was dispatched to the scene. After a thorough search at the scene, the bomb threat was declared fake at 1:05 am. Police received information about an email threatening a bomb at the British School. After investigation, this too was declared fake.
According to the police, after the threat was proven fake, a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated. The Delhi Police Cyber Cell is investigating the sender’s digital footprints using the email’s technical details, IP address, and Internet Service Provider. According to the police, the accused will be identified and taken into custody soon.
