UP: Bank of Baroda branch manager among two arrested in bribery case

Sultanpur, July 15: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Branch Manager Swarnim Srivastava and Credit Officer Pushpak Chaudhary of Bank of Baroda Koiripur branch in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, in a bribery case.

The CBI stated that the two officers demanded a bribe of ₹45,000 from a complainant to grant an overdraft facility for his loan. The CBI registered the case on July 13. The complainant had been sanctioned a loan of ₹5 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Youth Entrepreneur Scheme. His term loan had been granted, but the overdraft facility was pending. It is alleged that the two officers demanded the bribe to grant this facility.

The agency laid a trap on July 14 and caught Credit Officer Pushpak Chaudhary red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹35,000 from the complainant. This action was taken at the behest of branch manager Swarnim Srivastava. Both have been arrested and will be presented before the competent court in Lucknow.
