
Colleagues’ alleged abuse pushes Noida BPO employee to suicide attempt, battling severe injuries
Noida, June 11 : An MBA student employed at a BPO in Sector 62 was allegedly subjected to mental and physical harassment by three male colleagues who made obscene gestures and attempted to force her into physical relations; distressed, she traveled to Bareilly and attempted suicide by jumping from the railway station overbridge, and is now hospitalized in critical condition while Sector 58 police investigate the case.
Inspector in-charge of Sector 58 police station Amit Kumar said that a person has lodged a report in the police station last night that he is a resident of Badaun district. According to the victim, her daughter is pursuing her final year of MBA from a college in Bareilly and has been working at a BPO company called Tech Mahindra in Sector 62, Noida, for four months.
According to the victim, she befriended Ayush Sharma, Saurav Upadhyay, and Abhinav, who also worked there. They initially lured her with sweet talk and then, a few days later, went to her home and attempted to force themselves on her. When her daughter threatened to inform the police and her family, the accused threatened to publish her obscene photos on social media and burn her with acid. According to the victim, her daughter informed her of this.
According to the SHO, on May 29, he called her daughter to Bareilly. She had gone to a college in Bareilly to take her MBA exam when the accused repeatedly called her phone. he claimed his daughter was under extreme mental and physical stress due to their pressure. She wrote a suicide note and then jumped off the Bhojipura railway station overbridge, intending to commit suicide.
According to the victim’s father, the GRP police admitted his daughter to the hospital for treatment. From there, she was referred to a multi-speciality hospital.
According to the victim’s father, doctors have determined that one of his daughter’s arms will have to be amputated. Her condition remains critical. The station in-charge stated that the case was initially registered at the GRP police station in Bareilly district. It was then transferred to the Noida last night. The police have registered a report of the incident and begun investigating the matter.
