
Wanted fugitive with ₹25,000 reward held in Lucknow
Lucknow, June 13: The police police arrested a criminal carrying a reward of 25,000 rupees in the Madiyanava police station area on Saturday. He used to earn his living by circulating counterfeit currency in the market, police reported.
The Madiyanava police station in-charge Shivanand Mishra said that the arrested criminal was identified as Sumit Yadav alias Monu, a resident of Dargawan village in Kanpur Dehat, who worked in transport. For some time, he, along with his associates, had been making counterfeit notes and exchanging them for real currency in the market, supporting himself and his family with these. Late Friday night, police were present at Bhithauli intersection in search of a wanted criminal.
According to the SHO, meanwhile, the police received information that the accused, who was wanted for counterfeit currency, was standing on the road leading to Dubagga near IIM intersection. Acting on this information, the police surrounded the area and arrested the accused. Earlier, the police had arrested his other associates and sent them to jail. They had been searching for him ever since they learned about him during interrogation. Legal action is being taken against the accused. He has previously been charged with criminal offenses.
