New Delhi, 03 May: The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to entertain a plea seeking a stay on the release of the film The Kerala Story.
A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that the Kerala High Court is hearing the matter. In such a situation, the petitioner should approach the High Court. The petition was filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had demanded a ban on the film’s release on May 5. It was said in the petition that the film defames the entire Muslim community. This would endanger the life and livelihood of the petitioners and the entire Muslim community in the country.
It was said in the petition that this is a direct violation under the right to equality and life.
