Masked gang raids Kanpur BJP leader farmhouse, ₹50 lakh looted

Kanpur, October 13: Masked miscreants stormed the Sen Paschimpara area farmhouse of BJP Backward Front state minister Ramesh Yadav late Monday night, held him hostage by tying his hands and feet, and looted around ₹50 lakh before fleeing, prompting senior police officials to rush to the spot with heavy force and launch an investigation.

Ramesh Yadav stated that he had been appointed State Minister of the BJP Backward Front. He arrived in Kanpur late Monday night after assuming office in Lucknow. He was staying alone at his farmhouse, located approximately 500 meters from his home. Four security guards were also deployed there. Despite this, the miscreants entered the farmhouse, tied his hands and feet, looted the property and fled. Police arrived at the scene.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Dr Vipin Tada and DCP South Deependra Nath Chaudhary arrived at the scene with a police force. Police inspected the farmhouse, collected evidence, and began searching for the criminals in the surrounding areas. CCTV footage did not show the criminals entering the farmhouse, but two suspects were captured fleeing. The footage shows both men wearing black clothing. They climbed atop a tin shed and jumped off, escaping. Police are attempting to identify them based on the footage.

Ramesh Yadav has been active in local politics and has served as the Block Chief twice. His wife, Shashi Yadav, has also served as the Block Chief. Ramesh Yadav contested the 2022 election from the Bithoor Assembly seat on a Bahujan Samaj Party ticket.

The Kanpur police is currently attempting to estimate the amount of cash and goods stolen in this incident. They are working to identify the criminals and locate the stolen goods. 4
