Exam purity, security paramount; no laxity for candidates’ convenience: CM Yogi

Lucknow, October 24: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the preparations for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET)-2026, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), via video conferencing on Saturday.

He directed officials to ensure the purity, transparency, and fairness of the exam, as well as make all necessary arrangements for the convenience, safety, and smooth transportation of the candidates. Special attention should be paid to the safety of female candidates.

Chief Minister directed the police machinery to be vigilant and to monitor misinformation and rumors circulating on social media regarding the exam, and to take strict action in such cases as per the rules.

The meeting was informed that PET-2026 will be conducted in six shifts on October 25, 30, and November 1. 1,372 centers have been designated for the exam in 60 districts of the state, where a total of 3,541,297 candidates are registered. Arrangements have been made for 590,217 candidates in each shift. Over 15,000 candidates will appear in each shift in nine districts, including Agra, Aligarh, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, and Prayagraj. A command control room has been established at the Commission headquarters to monitor the exam. Through this, all examination centers are being monitored live via cameras.

The Chief Minister directed District Magistrates (DMs) and senior police officers to ensure the deployment of sector and static magistrates at the examination centers and proper training of the concerned personnel. Necessary arrangements should be made at railway stations, bus stands, major routes, hotels, dharamshalas, and night shelters for the convenience and safety of candidates, especially female candidates. Special attention should be paid to crowd control and traffic management so that candidates do not face any inconvenience in reaching the examination centers. Arrangements should be made to operate additional buses and trains to accommodate the number of candidates.

It was informed at the meeting that a coordination meeting has been held at the Commission level with the Director General of Railways and officials from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation regarding the exam preparations. Uninterrupted power supply will be ensured at all exam centers during the exam dates. The Chief Minister also issued necessary instructions regarding the security of exam materials and confidential records.

He directed that special teams be deployed for cleanliness around the exam centers, railway stations, bus terminals, and tempo stands. Candidates should be provided with food and beverages at the prescribed rates and no overcharges should be imposed.

Chief Minister inquired about the exam preparations from the District Magistrates of the districts with the highest number of candidates and directed them to continuously monitor all arrangements. He urged all officials to work with utmost responsibility and vigilance to ensure a safe, peaceful, transparent, and orderly conduct of PET-2026.
