Facing debacle in West Bengal polls, Mamata accuses loot and irregularities across more than 100 constituencies
Kolkata, May 4: Amid the vote count for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee made serious allegations, alleging that over 100 seats in the state had been “looted.”
She made this statement while leaving the counting center at Sakhawat Memorial School on Monday evening. She also alleged that she was not allowed to enter the counting center and was mistreated. She also alleged that she was pushed.
While leaving the counting center, Mamata Banerjee faced chants of “thief, thief” and “go back” from BJP supporters. Earlier in the afternoon, when she was entering the center, BJP workers had also raised slogans against her. There was a continuous protest in front of her vehicle.
At around 3:30 pm, Mamata Banerjee arrived at Sakhawat Memorial School, where a crowd of BJP supporters was already present. Even before his arrival, tension had settled in the area. As soon as his convoy arrived, BJP supporters began shouting slogans.
Earlier, Trinamool workers had gathered at a petrol pump near the counting center, where the party’s state president, Subrata Bakshi, was also reported to be present. Police later asked the Trinamool workers to disperse. Meanwhile, an altercation broke out between BJP supporters from AJC Bose Road and the police. It is alleged that BJP supporters reached the Trinamool gathering and vandalized chairs placed there.
As the situation became tense, security was increased around the counting center. Central forces were deployed, and police attempted to control the situation. Security personnel removed BJP supporters from the center premises.
