Murder mystery of Meerut Kabaddi player over ₹3600 dispute revealed after month-and-a-half, SP MLA meets victim’s family

Meerut, June 01: The Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Atul Pradhan visited the victim’s family on Monday and, stated that the police had shown gross negligence in this case. The player had been missing for a month and a half. The police did not take immediate action on the family’s complaint.

Following the revelation of the murder of missing female kabaddi player Anushka Pal from Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, the family and the entire village are in mourning. Once, the village would celebrate whenever this beloved daughter returned home with a medal. Today, everyone is saddened.

It is noteworthy that seventeen-year-old kabaddi player Anushka Pal, missing since April 15 with her mobile switched off, was finally traced after her family’s month-and-a-half-long search led them to plead with senior police officials; following aggressive action, police detained Shyam, a fast-food vendor from Dehradun, who under rigorous interrogation confessed to murdering her over a ₹3600 dispute, exposing the crime that had remained hidden for weeks.

The accused apprised that he had killed the athlete on the night of April 15 and thrown her body into a drain on Rohta Road. During interrogation, the accused also revealed that he ran a fast-food joint near the Rohta flyover. Anushka, the athlete, used to come there to eat fast food. He owed her ₹3,600. A dispute over this amount led to his death and the body was thrown into a drain near the Shobhapur outpost.

The SP City Vinayak Gopal Bhosale stated that Anushka Pal, a 17-year-old kabaddi player from Chirodi village living with her brother in Shobhapur, Kankarkhera, and a national-level competitor, was murdered around 11 pm on April 15 when she objected to a heated argument over a pending ₹3600 fast food bill; enraged, the accused Shyam struck her on the head with a brick, killing her instantly, and following his arrest, police have initiated further action against him.
