Solidarity and mutual respect should define global ties, says PM Modi
New Delhi, June 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while participating in the outreach session on “Building New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity” held during the G-7 Summit, stressed the need for partnerships based on trust and equality for global cooperation.
He said that in today’s interconnected world, relations between countries should not be limited to the perspective of donor and recipient, but should be based on solidarity, mutual respect, and equal partnership.
The Prime Minister said that India has always followed the principle of “humanity first.” He mentioned initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), the Global Biofuel Alliance, Mission Life, and “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” all of which were established on India’s initiatives, saying that all these efforts reflect India’s commitment to global well-being and sustainable development.
He stated that India’s vision of international partnerships is inspired by the ancient Indian spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” meaning “the whole world is one family.”
The Prime Minister reiterated that India is firmly committed to advancing inclusive, sustainable, and universally beneficial global development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on Tuesday. During the summit, he met with leaders from various countries and expressed his commitment to enhance cooperation to advance prosperity, sustainable development, and human well-being. Prime Minister Modi also met with US President Donald Trump.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared a group photo of G7 leaders and special invitees on Twitter. He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several other leaders, gathered for a family photo at the 52nd G7 Summit in Evian, France. This is another step towards addressing global challenges and promoting inclusive development.”
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Prime Minister Modi to the G-7 Summit. Following bilateral talks in Nice, the two leaders extended their discussions to the multilateral forum. India and France reiterated their commitment to working together to address global challenges and build a more prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive future.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi stated on social media that his visit to Evian provided him with the opportunity to exchange views with world leaders on important global issues. He said that discussions with the leaders of the G-7 countries are always useful, and India is committed to advancing collective efforts for a more sustainable and prosperous world.
It is noteworthy that the G-7 is a group of the world’s seven major developed economies. It includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Britain, and the United States. India is not a member, but Prime Minister Modi has been invited to participate in the summit as a special invitee. Topics such as the global economy, energy security, climate change, artificial intelligence, and international cooperation are being discussed at the summit.
