
Traffic constable 👮, trailer driver killed in Kanpur bridge accident🚨⚠️
Kanpur, July 6: A traffic police constable and a trailer driver were killed while another was seriously injured in a horrific road accident on the Barra Elevated Bridge in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, early Monday morning. Traffic on the elevated bridge was disrupted for some time following the accident. Police and traffic department officials arrived at the scene and began rescue and relief operations, police told.
The traffic constables Jitendra and Rakesh, posted on the Naubasta bypass, had received information about the traffic jam on the elevated bridge. They were traveling to the scene on their bike when a speeding, uncontrolled trailer came from behind near Priya Hospital and struck their bike. The impact was so severe that traffic constable Jitendra (35), a resident of Agra, died on the spot, while Rakesh was seriously injured. They were immediately admitted to Kanshi Ram Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Following the accident, the uncontrolled trailer collided with a truck ahead. The trailer driver also died on the spot. Police took both bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem examination and initiated the removal of the injured vehicles.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dr Vipin Tanda and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ravindra Kumar arrived at the scene. Officials inspected the scene and gathered information regarding the accident.
The accident caused a long traffic jam on the elevated bridge. Police removed the damaged vehicles with the help of a crane and restored traffic. Police are investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Tanda stated that preliminary investigations have revealed the accident was caused by a trailer collision. One traffic constable and the trailer driver died in the accident, while the other is undergoing treatment at the hospital. All aspects of the case are being investigated.
