‘Bakrid’ celebrated with enthusiasm across Uttar Pradesh; Muslim community urges cow be declared ‘National Animal’

Lucknow, May 28: Bakrid (Eid-ul-Adha) was celebrated with great devotion and joy in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. The Muslim community offered prayers in mosques and Eidgahs. Meanwhile, the Muslim community in Agra city demanded the declaration of cow as the national animal outside the Eidgah, calling it a message of strengthening brotherhood and communal harmony.

Meanwhile, strict guidelines have been implemented for the festival as directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Special arrangements have been made in Sambhal, one of the most sensitive districts in the state. Flag marches were also held in other sensitive districts, and drone surveillance is being conducted. However, Bakrid is being celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere across the state.
Several controversies have arisen regarding the sacrifice of cows and the offering of prayers on the streets during Bakrid (Eid al-Adha). In West Bengal, some elements were calling for cow sacrifice, but in Uttar Pradesh, due to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s strictness and law and order, neither prayers were offered on the streets nor were any sacrifices made in the open. Meanwhile, a unique initiative has emerged from the Taj city of the state.

The Muslim community of Agra not only celebrated their festival of Bakrid (Eid al-Adha), but after offering prayers, the officials and workers of the Uttar Pradesh Muslim Mahapanchayat, led by the officials and activists of the Uttar Pradesh Muslim Mahapanchayat, held placards and posters outside the Eidgah demanding “Declare the Cow the National Animal.” The officials stated that the cow is a symbol of the country’s culture and the faith of millions of people, and therefore, it deserves national animal status.

Sarpanchs Nadeem Noor and Amjal Qureshi of the Muslim Mahapanchayat stated that they raised this demand on this auspicious occasion to further strengthen Hindu-Muslim unity and communal harmony in the country. This demonstration became a topic of great curiosity and discussion among the worshippers and passersby coming out of the Eidgah. During this, the Mahapanchayat workers peacefully put forward their demands and prayed for peace in the country.

Meanwhile, due to the strictness of the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Bakrid festival is being celebrated peacefully in the state. The Muslim community offered prayers in a peaceful atmosphere in all places, including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Sambhal, Bareilly, Farrukhabad, Kanpur, Auraiya, Agra, Bijnor, Rampur, Muzaffarnagar. The Muslim community is celebrating with joy and in a traditional manner. Namaz was offered in a peaceful atmosphere in Ramnagari Ayodhya.

Police arrangements remained tight, and a flag march was organized

The administration is fully prepared to maintain peace and security on this occasion. Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s instructions, strict guidelines have been implemented for the festival. He warned against offering namaz on the road, stating that traffic should not be disrupted under any circumstances. No one will be allowed to disrupt law and order.

In line with the Chief Minister’s stance, State DGP Rajiv Krishna and Principal Secretary Home held regular review meetings and ensured all necessary measures to maintain law and order. Police conducted flag marches at various locations, arrested unwanted elements, and held peace committee meetings at police stations. These meetings resolved that sacrifices would be performed in accordance with government regulations and that namaz would not be offered on the road or in public places.

On Thursday, sensitive areas were under close surveillance using drones and CCTV cameras. Security arrangements have been increased in several districts. Police have made strict arrangements in Sambhal, one of the most sensitive districts in the state.
