
Fake currency racket busted in Lucknow; three held with high-value notes
Lucknow, June 09: The Lucknow police has arrested three criminals from a gang that exchanges fake currency for original notes. Police recovered fake currency worth ₹ 13,95,600 from them.
DCP North Gopal Krishna Chaudhary told on Tuesday that Madiyaon police were conducting a checking operation late on Monday night. During the investigation, they received information that three boys were present near a tin shed in an empty field on the right side of Ghaila Bridge. They were carrying fake currency notes and were waiting to give them to someone. If they acted quickly, they could be caught. Acting on this information, police arrested the three boys.
During interrogation, the men identified themselves as Alok Singh, Sonu alias Golu, and Brijesh Vishwakarma, residents of Azamgarh. Fake currency worth Rs 13,95,600, including 1402 Rs 500 notes (14 bundles) and 6946 Rs 100 notes (70 bundles), has been recovered from the possession of the accused.
The DCP said that the accused have been arrested and legal action is being taken against them. The police are investigating who else is involved in their gang; their associates will be arrested soon.
