Five killed in Gonda road accident; two brothers among victims

Gonda, June 11: A horrific road accident occurred late Wednesday night in the Karnail Ganj police station area of ​​Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. A total of five people, including two brothers, were killed in the accident, police reported. 

The Police told four people died on the spot, while three others were injured. Two of them were referred to Lucknow due to their critical condition, one of whom died on Thursday.

An Additional Superintendent of Police (West) Radheshyam Rai said on Thursday that the accident occurred near the Narayanpur turn on the Gonda-Lucknow highway in the Karnailganj area on Wednesday night. Sanjay Tiwari, a resident of Tarhata village, was returning home from work. A dumper truck hit his bike, leaving him injured on the roadside. Hearing Sanjay’s cries, people nearby rushed to his aid. Some people were preparing to take him across the road to safety and take him to the hospital. Meanwhile, a speeding car coming from Karnailganj hit the people on the road. All the injured were taken to the Community Health Center, Parsapur, where Gulshan (25), Sanjay Tiwari (33), Hasan Mohammad (40), and Imtiaz Ali (27) were declared dead. Three of the injured were undergoing treatment. Two of them were referred to Lucknow due to their critical condition, where 10-year-old Anshuman died today. All the deceased were residents of Karnailganj.

According to the Additional Superintendent of Police, Hasan and Imtiaz were real brothers, while Gulshan and Anshuman were uncle and nephew. The other injured are undergoing treatment.

He said that the police have arrested the car driver, Abid, and the vehicle owner, Shoaib, and are interrogating them.
