
Four accused nabbed for attack on municipal corporation, police team in Lucknow
Lucknow, August 18: The Lucknow police have intensified action in the Para police station stoneโpelting case, arresting four more accused on Tuesday, bringing the total arrests to six so far, while a case has been registered against over a dozen individuals named in the complaint by the Municipal Corporation and police, and the crackdown on the attackers continues.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Kamlesh Dixit said that dairy was being operated illegally by tying buffaloes on government land, roads and other places in the residential areas of Para police station area. On receiving the complaint, the Municipal Corporation team and police reached there on August 16 to remove them. People involved in this illegal business protested and pelted stones at the team. During this, municipal corporation employees and Vinay Patel, a police sub-inspector who was leading the operation, were attacked with chains. The sub-inspector was seriously injured and an attempt was made to strangle him. Video and photos of this incident have also gone viral.
The police and municipal corporation filed a case in this matter. Taking action in this incident, two women were arrested on Monday. A joint team arrived at the scene today and removed approximately two hundred buffaloes that were illegally kept there and took them into custody. The culprits are being identified, with four accused arrested today. The team is working to arrest others.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated that the two people arrested on Monday were identified as Khushbu and Afreen, daughters of Abbas, a resident of Gadiana. Both were sent to jail after appearing in court. Today, four accused were arrested. He stated that a complaint was also filed by the Animal Welfare Officer, in which a case has been registered against Abrar, Imran, Saloon, Subil, Sarafat, Atiq, Asif, Warish, Naseem, Ranu, Zeeshan, and Nafish, among others.
Mayor Sushma Kharwal stated that the way some people pelted stones at the municipal corporation and police team last Sunday and attempted to kill the inspector was completely wrong. The police and municipal corporation teams are doing their job and will clear the entire area by removing the illegal encroachers. These attackers are being met with a response today.
