BSP chief slams Akhilesh Yadav, demands apology to Jat community

Lucknow, August 22: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has attacked Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav’s statement regarding Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary. Calling Akhilesh Yadav’s statement indecent and shameful, she demanded an apology not only to the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and its leader, but also to the entire Jat community.

Mayawati posted on Instagram on Saturday, saying that the SP chief’s statement about his former ally RLD and its leader, “We have turned them into rupees from 25 paise,” is completely indecent, unbecoming, and shameful. She said that for such arrogant and undemocratic statements, Akhilesh Yadav should immediately apologize to the entire Jat community for insulting not only the RLD and its leader, but also the family of Chaudhary Charan Singh.

The BSP chief alleged that the SP’s political conduct has been influenced by political narrow-mindedness and casteist hatred, both towards its opposition and allies. She said this has often benefited the BJP politically and electorally, weakening secular forces.

Referring to the former SP-BSP alliance, Mayawati said that the SP’s arrogant attitude led to the early collapse of the 1993 alliance with Mulayam Singh Yadav. This was followed by the Lucknow State Guest House incident on June 2, 1995, as part of an alleged murder plot against him.

She said that later, on Akhilesh Yadav’s assurance, the BSP and SP formed an alliance for the Lok Sabha elections, but after the election results were not favorable, this alliance also broke down due to Akhilesh Yadav’s arrogant and selfish attitude.

Mayawati alleged that the SP only knows how to get its work done in alliances and, like a chameleon, changes colors once its work is done. She said that the SP’s use of abusive language against other parties is also a long-standing practice. She appealed to people from all sections of society to be wary of the SP’s alleged narrow-minded and casteist politics.

The BSP president also questioned Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) politics. She alleged that Akhilesh, according to his political interests, sometimes associates the “P” in PDA with the interests of backward classes and sometimes with the interests of Pandits. She alleged that the SP, in contrast to its own caste, has not been supportive of backward classes, minorities, and upper castes, especially Brahmins.

Mayawati accused previous SP governments of exploiting and oppressing Dalits, backward classes, minorities, and upper castes, especially Brahmins. She said that goons, criminals, mafias, and anarchists benefited under the SP government. She appealed to people from all sections of society to not allow the SP to come to power in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. ————
