Law and order debate escalates, opposition seeks President’s Rule in Maharashtra
Mumbai, October 19: After the firing on Bollywood film actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu area, top opposition leaders of Maharashtra have demanded imposition of President’s rule in the state. Opposition leaders said that law and order in the state has deteriorated. Firing, murder, gang wars have become the order of the day.
The Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut said on Monday that law and order has completely collapsed in the state and ‘jungle raj’ has come. In view of the continuous incidents of firing, murder, gang wars in Maharashtra, the Governor of the state should recommend to the central government to impose President’s rule in the state.
Speaking to reporters today, Sanjay Raut, citing recent incidents of firing, murder, and gang wars in the state, said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde have failed to maintain law and order across Maharashtra, including Mumbai. He said that the firing that took place yesterday is called jungle raj. The rule of law has ended. If you look at the situation since Devendra Fadnavis became Home Minister, you’ll see. A wave of murders and firings has been going on in Pune, Thane, Nashik, and Nagpur.
He said that the underworld era of the 1990s has returned to Maharashtra. Gang wars, extortion, threats, street shootings, and kidnappings have resumed in the state of Fadnavis, Shinde, and Sunetra Pawar. Yesterday, Tiger Shroff was attacked. The attack was carried out from the front of a mob. Prior to that, Baba Siddiqui was murdered, there was a shooting outside Salman Khan’s house, and Purnekar was murdered. Therefore, it is clear that there is no law and order in the state, Sanjay Raut attacked.
He said that the state needs a full-time Home Minister. The Home Department is being used to frame the opposition in false cases. Mafia gangs are roaming freely. Fadnavis and Shinde cannot run the state. Therefore, the state government should be dismissed and President’s rule should be imposed in Maharashtra. He demanded that the Governor should make such a recommendation to the central government.
State Congress President Harsh Vardhan Sakpal, senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, and NCP-SP leader Supriya Sule also strongly criticized the state government, especially Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. All these leaders, detailing the events in the state, demanded the imposition of President’s rule in the state.
