
Uttar Pradesh braces for heavy showers as IMD sounds orange alert
Lucknow, August 18: Amidst the active monsoon in Uttar Pradesh, the Meteorological officials has issued a warning regarding rain for the next few hours. According to the information received on Tuesday from the Sachet app, there is a high possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms in some areas of Ballia, Chandauli and Ghazipur during the next three hours. An orange alert has been issued for these three districts.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Sub-Division Daily Weather Forecast Bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Center, Lucknow on August 18, rain and thunderstorms are expected in many parts of the state.
According to the seven-day forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms at many places in western and eastern Uttar Pradesh from August 18 to 24. Rainfall is expected to increase further in eastern Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. Weather warnings predict heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations in western Uttar Pradesh on August 18th. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh, with extremely heavy rainfall possible in some areas. Under the Orange Alert issued by the Special Vigilance Sachet app for these districts, inclement weather is expected in some areas of Ballia, Chandauli, and Ghazipur for the next three hours. Thunderstorms and lightning are also a risk during the rains.
Senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh stated that as of August 17th, the state has received a total of 398.6 mm of rainfall, while the normal rainfall should have been 496.3 mm. Thus, rainfall has fallen 20 percent below normal. Regionally, eastern Uttar Pradesh has received 27 percent less rainfall, and western Uttar Pradesh has received eight percent less rainfall. Rainfall is expected to partially offset this shortfall by next week. In view of the changing weather, people are advised to maintain distance from open fields, trees, electric poles and other unsafe places during lightning and thunder. If not necessary, avoid going out during the alert period and keep an eye on the latest information from the local administration and the Meteorological Department.

Apart from the heavy rain alert in Ballia, Chandauli and Ghazipur of the state in the next few hours, there is a possibility of rain in Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Barabanki, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur districts and their surrounding areas.
