Chief Minister reviews progress of ongoing and upcoming projects in both divisions
Gorakhpur, June 14: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the Public Works Department (PWD) works in the Gorakhpur and Azamgarh divisions at the Annexe Building on Sunday. During the meeting, the Chief Minister inquired from senior government and department officials about the progress of existing and ongoing projects in both divisions. He directed that road construction work be expedited through a war-footing campaign and that all work be completed within the deadline with quality. He directed that special attention be paid to pre-monsoon projects and their timely completion. The Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department also presented an account of the previous year’s work at the meeting.
Yogi directed that road construction work be started immediately, prioritizing proposals received from public representatives, so that common citizens can directly benefit. All necessary approvals should be obtained by the end of June, and the foundation stone should be laid immediately thereafter. Work should commence only after arranging all necessary resources, ensuring that work is not interrupted and completed on time.
The Commissioner and District Magistrate should also conduct periodic reviews
The Chief Minister directed that in keeping with the 2026-27 action plan, PWD officials should prioritize road construction in all assembly constituencies of the Gorakhpur and Azamgarh divisions. The action plan should be made available immediately so that funds can be approved in a timely manner. The tender process should also be completed on time. To expedite the work, the concerned Commissioner and District Magistrate should hold regular review meetings at their respective levels to ensure the progress of construction work is ensured.
Adequate arrangements should be made for the safety of workers
. Emphasizing effective monitoring of the work, the Chief Minister directed officials to conduct on-site inspections and ensure online monitoring through technology. The Chief Minister laid special emphasis on safety standards in the works of Setu Nigam. He said that there should not be any compromise with the safety of the working labourers and there should be complete arrangement of safety kits for them. All the departments should work with better coordination among themselves.

The Chief Minister also inquired about the progress of the works of ‘Mohan Setu’ under construction in Deoria. He directed the officials to inspect the work site and speed up the construction of the bridge. The Chief Minister also said that all the contractors who are taking ‘below tender’ should be kept under close watch and such people should be identified.
